Spec work. Leading competitors in the gamescon space have recently modernized their brand and messaging. Our aim was to bring GDC up to par, and to better communicate the brand as an industry leader.

Design needs to be both aesthetic and purposeful.
Brands with eye-catching and recognizable visuals can more easily get those 7 touch points in for marketing. So we made a more clearly defined color palette and consistent font choices, so the branding is recognizable when replicated across different assets and channels.
We want viewers to instantly align the branding with the message - this is a modern video game convention! Switching up the current organic and handmade feel, we ran the other direction featuring a high contrast, clean, and graphic style - a nod to technology and gaming.
